We had, jokingly at first, talked about getting married on 6/6/6 for quite some time. At some point, it went from joking to, "Well, why don't we?" In general, without ranting too much, neither of us are much believers in organized religion, so the number has no real meaning to us, other than being amusing. Besides, it may not hold the meaning that the people who would care about such things think it does either - Wikipedia for 616, the other number of the beast.
Anyhow, there aren't a ton of numbers which have specific meanings associated which would be "fun". The next best I could think of would be 3.14.15, but that's quite a ways off. Anyhow, 666 also has a lot of interesting properties:
- 666 = 6 (6 + 1) / 2, meaning it is the sum of the numbers 1 through 36.
- 666 = 666 in reverse
- 666 is a palindrome.
- 6/6/6 gives us the opportunity to have an upside-downiversary on 9/9/9.
- 666 = 22 + 32 + 52 + 72 + 112 + 132 + 172
Getting married on a Tuesday was sort of weird. We'd established that we didn't want a huge wedding, so we didn't feel compelled to make the date about anyone but us. We invited enough people so that we could get good pictures in return for champagne, cake, and a 6/6/6 wedding invitation.
But for the most part, it just seemed like an interesting choice, especially after all the joking. And besides, it's darn near impossible to forget it.
